Friends collect donations for Georgia man injured in river rescue

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The Friends of Mike Patterson Trust will accept donations from the public at large for Patterson's benefit

.

Patterson was injured after diving into a creek in northwest Georgia to save a 4-year-old girl who was in danger of drowning.

During the rescue, Patterson dove into the water, hit his head and was critically injured.

One hundred percent of the donations collected by the Friends of Mike Patterson Trust will go to benefit Patterson.

On Monday afternoon, CBS Atlanta confirmed Tyler Perry donated to Patterson.
